After a succesful show at the Mido optical fair in Milan, Luca and Tommaso are now heading off to the other side of the Atlantic to exhibit the collection this weekend in New York at Vision Expo East. This is the first time that we make a formal presentation to the US market, and we are very excited to start this new chapter in L.G.R’s history. Here is a preview of the special feature that our new limited edition RAW sunglasses offer, polarized lenses! They have unique technical properties and are made exclusively for us!

We thought you L.G.R lovers out there might like to know a little bit more about why our lenses are so special. Firstly, they consist of two ultra thin outer crystal layers which encompass a polarized film. All together, this eliminates any reflections created by the sun. The external lens is UV ray protective, and has CET which is color enhancement treatment (it accentuates colors by making them more vivid without being too bright, such as yellow). The internal lens has ten layers of anti-reflex coating which offers the eyes maximum protection from infrared and UV rays. Therefore, if the sun shines from behind you, it will block any reflections that could bounce off of the interior lenses and into your eyes. Lastly, the inner and outer lens are oleo and hydrophobic, therefore if any type of water, oil from sweat, make up, etc. find its way onto the lens, then it will simply slide off or can easily be wiped away with a cloth!

The four model collection consists of 100 pieces per style, so get yourself a pair of this exclusive collection when they come out in stores!

We just finished up with our photo shoot in Miami for the new limited edition sunglasses that will be presented in March at Mido, Milan’s optical fair. The shoot took place inside the dreamy Italian renaissance inspired gardens of Viscaya, where photographer Fay Baldwin was able to capture the spirit of the new frames and their special patented lenses made exclusively for L.G.R. Introducing the first image of the special edition sunglasses “L.G.R for Corviglia Ski Club”!

We have taken the classic shapes of the Massawa and Naivasha frames, and have fitted them with ultra protective bi-mirrored lenses, which are ideal for high altitude solar exposure. They have a 400% UV protection, infrared ray protection, and a bi-mirrored coating which blocks the blinding rays of glare created by the light reflected on snow.

If you are near the slopes of St. Moritz, and can get your hands on these special ski frames, than don’t miss out!

Here is a unique view of an elephant grazing through the Tsavo National Park in Kenya.  The photo was taken by Luca who used the sunbrown lenses of his Massawa sunglasses to get a clearer image.  These lenses are made from tempered mineral glass which are anti-scratch and impact resistant, making them a must have for extreme safari conditions.

L.G.R is proud to present the latest Spring/Summer 2011 collection.  To join the line we have an exquisite 1950′s inspired pair called “Emma” and the larger than life “Orano”.   As a result of experimenting with several techniques, we developed a raw unpolished finish, in green, for the forthcoming season.

To add to the optical frames we have created two new eye catching styles, the “Maputo” and the “Suez”, charming in every way.  Both come in a variety of colours and of course hand made to perfection in Italy, by expert artisans, to ensure a long lasting and timeless product.

On your way to a Safari anytime soon? Neither are we. However we will be making some weekend trips to Portofino, and what would be better than to carry your garments in an elegant safari bag. L.G.R and Sandstorm (a Kenyan based company) have collaborated to make a refined and practical bag for traveling. Like all other L.G.R products there is no external logo on the bag.
