Now that August is around the corner, we are ready to pack our bags and head off to the beautiful Tyrrhenian sea of Porto Ercole (where the boat scenes of the movie The Talented Mr. Ripley took place). The Hotel Il Pellicano, considered one of the most exclusive hotels in Italy, is located on the water, has private access to the sea, and a restaurant that is rated with 2 Michelin stars. A must see is their lovely boutique which has a great selection of our sunglasses and safari bags.

L.G.R is now being sold at No. 8a, New York’s finest shop of fashion curiosities located inside the Ace Hotel. The boutique is considered an “out of the ordinary hotel shopping experience” by the New York Times. Check out their online shopping section for a pair of L.G.R’s in case you can not make it to the boutique itself which is worth the visit.

L.G.R would like to give you a preview of one of the newest additions to its collection, Enteara. Named after an island off of the coast of Eritrea, these new sunglasses are inspired by the glamorous French Riviera of the 1960’s. They are sophisticated, and recall the Saint Tropez of Jane Birkin and Romy Schneider in  Jacques Deray’s film, La Piscine. In addition to the new model, two new colors were also added to the line which are “nut/grey” and “Ice/grey”.  Now you can take a little bit of the Cote d’azur with you wherever you go this summer.

As soon as I walked through the doors I saw an empty lit catwalk , surrounded by hundreds of people: photographers, journalists, critics, actors and editors, all excitedly taking their seats. I saw the whole fashion show as one, and I was proud to be part of it with L.G.R and as one of the protagonists. When the music started and the first models appeared on the catwalk , it was an incredible rush of happiness. Nearly every model was wearing a pair of L.G.R sunglasses which created a perfect harmony with the beautiful outfits by Antonio Marras. It was great to see the spectators surrounding me with their enthusiastic reactions to the collection. The show was a success, the clothes were amazing, and the sunglasses were a hit!

MIDO – Mostra Internazionale Di Ottica

From the 5th to the 7th of March we will be exibiting our new 2011 collection.

After 6 month of hard work our design team and our artisans have finalized the drawings and prototypes in new veritable products. Our mission during this period was to enforce our optical line and the result is: 6 new styles in 5 new colors for the optical line.

As always, we also worked on the sunglasses collection by adding 3 new styles in 3 new colors. This result has been reached with the idea of presenting models that will combine with the previous models adding value to the whole collection.

For my side, the invitation and the catalogue have been sent to all our clients and to new potential ones. The response is already very positive. Everybody around us is curious to see what we invented this time!

In the meantime, we are glad to see that the L.G.R’s family is growing and that the spirit of everyone is really passionate.

I am counting the days and I can’t wait to show our job to the best opticians of the world, and only after that moment we will be able to relax a bit more.

Happy birthday to Oscar Niemeyer, one of the greatest architects living today. He just turned 102 yers old!

The great architect is wearing L.G.R model Khartoum in Rio de Janeiro, while Emma is wearing model Keren.

L.G.R is pleased to announce the collaboration with the exclusive Corviglia Ski Club in St. Moritz.

L.G.R presents the models Casablanca and Massawa in a limited edition for the Corviglia Ski Club, with flexible hinges, made of celluloid acetate entirely hand made in Italy. The lenses are conceived for the snow and for high altitude solar exposure: bi-mirrored lenses and ultra-protective 400% UV.

The Corviglia Ski Club was born in the 1930’s and is one of the most prestigious in the world and counts among its founders Coco Chanel and Jacques Cartier.

Over the decades several important characters have been guests of the Corviglia like, Orson Welles, Greta Garbo, Aristotele Onassis, Romy Schneider, Brigitte Bardot, Andy Warhol and Valentino.

The limited edition L.G.R sunglasses for Corviglia Ski Club will be exhibited in the club house for members.
